ThunderJet AQ1804S - 1.8m Eco-Solvent Printer for Sign Production

ThunderJet AQ1804S is equipped with 4 Epson I3200-E1 printheads. Compared with a single-head printer, this configuration delivers higher speed and is better suited for a daily flow of orders: self-adhesive vinyl, banners, wallpaper, window graphics, posters and vehicle graphics. Epson I3200-E1 is a modern eco-solvent printhead based on PrecisionCore MicroTFP technology. It has become a widely used solution in new generations of sign printers, replacing older-generation solutions on the market thanks to better productivity, stable droplet placement and higher nozzle density. At the same time, 4 heads require correct calibration, clean maintenance, quality ink and proper ICC profiles.

The 1.8 m width gives an extra 20 cm compared with many standard 1.6 m printers. In production, this matters: you can print wider panels, nest jobs more efficiently on the roll, reduce waste and work with media that does not fit into a 1.6 m format. For sign production, 1.8 m is a strong balance between size, price and capability. It is clearly more versatile than an entry-level printer, but it does not require the space and budget of a 3.2 m industrial machine.

Yes, AQ1804S is suitable for indoor graphics, wallpaper, posters, decorative panels and print jobs for photo studios. For these applications, printheads are important, but so are media, ICC profiles, print mode and colour control. If the customer needs clean halftones, smooth gradients and accurate image reproduction at close viewing distance, we select the print mode and colour profile for the specific material.

Maximum speed is usually specified for fast modes and does not always represent daily production conditions. In real work, speed depends on pass count, resolution, media, ink, ICC profile, drying/curing and the customer’s quality requirements. For sign production, stable production-mode speed is more important than maximum speed alone. Sometimes a slower mode gives visibly better quality, especially for indoor graphics, wallpaper, small text and images viewed from a short distance.

An ICC profile connects the printer, ink, media and print mode. Without a correct profile, the same artwork can look different on vinyl, banner, backlit, PET or indoor media. Colours may shift, grey may become tinted and dark areas may lose detail. For professional printing, profiles should be built for the customer’s real materials. This is especially important for brand advertising, photo studios, interior projects and customers where deviation from corporate colour is not acceptable.
