ThunderJet AQ1601S - 1.6m Entry-Level Eco-Solvent Printer in Moldova

The working print width of ThunderJet AQ1601S is up to 1600 mm. If media width is 1620–1630 mm, it is important to separate two things: roll media width and actual print width. For the customer, the actual print width defines the maximum image size, while media width is needed for correct feeding, margins and stable take-up.

ThunderJet AQ1601S uses one Epson I3200-E1 printhead for eco-solvent printing. It is a modern Epson PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead with 3200 nozzles, high print density and stable droplet placement. In sign production, this helps achieve clean small text, fine lines, stickers, window graphics and indoor images. The advantage of a single-head configuration is simplicity. The printer does not need inter-head alignment between multiple printheads, which reduces the risk of micro-shifts, simplifies calibration and makes maintenance easier. This makes AQ1601S a good choice for small sign shops, sticker producers, window graphics companies and businesses entering wide-format printing without unnecessary complexity.

In a single-head configuration, there is no need to align several printheads with each other. This reduces the risk of micro-shifts between passes, especially on small text, fine lines and smooth gradients. For small and medium production volumes, this simplicity can be more practical than chasing maximum speed. AQ1601S is not the fastest printer in the range, but it is simple, clean and easy to maintain.

AQ1601S is suitable for stickers, posters, window graphics, small banners, indoor graphics and moderate daily production volumes. It is a good starting point for a sign shop or a small print workshop. If you have a constant flow of orders, large banner volumes or regular 1.8 m / 3.2 m printing, it is better to consider AQ1804S or AQ3208S. These models have more printheads and higher productivity, but they require more careful calibration, maintenance and a higher starting budget.

Maximum speed is usually specified for fast modes and does not always represent daily production conditions. In real work, speed depends on pass count, resolution, media, ink, ICC profile, drying/curing and the customer’s quality requirements. For sign production, stable production-mode speed is more important than maximum speed alone. Sometimes a slower mode gives visibly better quality, especially for indoor graphics, wallpaper, small text and images viewed from a short distance.

An ICC profile connects the printer, ink, media and print mode. Without a correct profile, the same artwork can look different on vinyl, banner, backlit, PET or indoor media. Colours may shift, grey may become tinted and dark areas may lose detail. For professional printing, profiles should be built for the customer’s real materials. This is especially important for brand advertising, photo studios, interior projects and customers where deviation from corporate colour is not acceptable.
