FAQ

Is GZM32KM PRO an eco-solvent or UV-LED printer?

GZM32KM PRO is a roll-to-roll UV-LED printer, not an eco-solvent model. It uses UV-curable ink that is cured by LED lamps immediately after application. This means the print does not require traditional drying, and the printer can work with a wider range of roll media, including non-absorbent surfaces. The main difference from eco-solvent is the ability to print white ink and varnish, as well as to work with materials where instant ink curing is required. Eco-solvent is usually chosen for banners, vinyl and outdoor advertising with a lower cost per square metre. UV-LED is chosen when white, varnish, backlit, PET, PP, decorative effects and wider media versatility are needed.

Which printheads are installed in GZM32KM PRO and how are they different from Epson I3200?

GZM32KM PRO uses industrial Konica Minolta KM1024a/KM1024i printheads, depending on configuration. These are industrial-class heads with 1024 nozzles and 72 mm print width, designed for stable operation with UV ink, white ink and varnish. Compared with Epson I3200, which is widely used in more accessible eco-solvent and UV solutions, Konica KM1024a/KM1024i are more often selected for heavier production loads, UV configurations, white ink, varnish and special effects. This is why GZM32KM PRO should be positioned as an industrial roll-to-roll UV printer for sign companies that need not only speed, but also premium effects.

Why is white ink important in UV printing?

White ink is needed for printing on transparent, coloured and dark materials. It works as a base layer under CMYK, helping the image remain bright and dense. Without a white layer, colours on transparent film, PET, backlit or coloured media may look pale or incorrect. For sign production, white ink is especially important for backlit, window graphics, transparent films, decorative media, premium packaging and indoor advertising. A white ink recirculation system is also important because white pigment is heavier and can settle during idle periods.

What is varnish used for in GZM32KM PRO?

Varnish in UV printing is used for gloss effects, highlighting specific elements, emphasising logos, creating decorative details and achieving a more premium visual result. On roll media, varnish can be used for labels, indoor graphics, packaging, POS materials and advertising elements where a more premium look is required. Varnish is an option: exact availability depends on configuration. Before purchase, confirm the configuration: number of printheads, colour scheme, white ink, varnish and recirculation system.

Why should printers not be compared only by maximum speed?

Maximum speed is usually specified for fast modes and does not always represent daily production conditions. In real work, speed depends on pass count, resolution, media, ink, ICC profile, drying/curing and the customer’s quality requirements. For sign production, stable production-mode speed is more important than maximum speed alone. Sometimes a slower mode gives visibly better quality, especially for indoor graphics, wallpaper, small text and images viewed from a short distance.

Why are ICC profiles important in sign printing?

An ICC profile connects the printer, ink, media and print mode. Without a correct profile, the same artwork can look different on vinyl, banner, backlit, PET or indoor media. Colours may shift, grey may become tinted and dark areas may lose detail. For professional printing, profiles should be built for the customer’s real materials. This is especially important for brand advertising, photo studios, interior projects and customers where deviation from corporate colour is not acceptable.

Are installation, commissioning and training included?

Yes. Installation, commissioning and operator training are free of charge. The equipment comes with a 1-year warranty that includes a service package. We provide service and consumables in Chișinău to keep production downtime to a minimum.

Do you create ICC colour profiles?

Yes, ICC colour profiles are included free of charge. We build them individually for your media, inks and jobs so that printed colour matches your artwork precisely.

Which consumables are needed and are they in stock?

The main consumables are inks, cleaning fluids, wiping/capping parts, filters and spare printheads. We keep key items in stock in Chișinău, so replacement and maintenance are fast.
